Dear GEA Parents,
I believe that reading at home is the very best way for students to improve their fluency, literacy, vocab, and spelling skills. And it can be a lot of fun!
At GEA, our teachers take students to one of our libraries once per week to check out books and encourage children to read at home. We also enroll every Kinder and afterschool student in an online reading program called Raz Kids, where they can listen to stories, read books, and take comprehension quizzes to earn stars on the website and extra stickers when they come to GEA. We provide incentives and competitions to encourage reading, because we know it’s a wonderful habit that kids will love and appreciate once they get started!
